Chocolate, strawberries and cream cheese - delightful combination

Who said a sheet cake has to be boring?  Though Wal-Mart and other grocery stores sell tons of them a year, they have the size but that's it!   I look at a sheet cake (1/2 sheet in the pictures below) as a painter's palette and easel.  I have a larger area in which to create the perfect design, just right for any occasion.  A sheet cake is also the basis for any most 3D sculptured cake as there is quite a large area of cake to carve and stack to make any shape you can imagine.

The cake below has a number of different mediums, combined to make one fantastic cake.   The bride really isn't a fan of cake.  Her family and friends were thoughtful and wanted to have a dessert she would eat, along with a traditional cake.  So... chocolate cake it was, chocolate covered strawberries and cream cheese icing to complete the decor.   Rosettes are colored to match the wedding colors and made from the same icing.  Chocolate, strawberries and cream cheese, a delightful combination!

Stay tuned for the wedding cake next month...
